Have you had a massage lately? I just had one today and it was...luxurious. Okay, there were a few tender areas -my body's way of saying "Hey, pay attention to this spot!" Overall, it felt rejuvenating and wonderful. So what is it about a massage that is so beneficial? It reduces stress, slows your heart rate, eases insomnia, boosts immunity, increases flexibility, helps heal anxiety and depression, blocks the nervous systems pain receptors, and is just plain relaxing! You've decided to call for an appointment, right? (Brandi at Leone Chiropractic Clinic is great! 217-384-8180)
When Beth (my studio mate) told me that she had explained to her artist colleagues that the best description she could give for my Intuitive Painting class was a "Massage for the Soul", I resounded with a "YES, I love it! What a perfect metaphor!"
What does it feel like to have your soul massaged? It's different for each individual because we are all unique. In general, I believe it will open you up to be present in the here and now, giving you space, energy, and freedom to explore the mysterious and wonderful "Being" that you are. You may awaken some "sore" spots-a way that soul says "Hey, pay attention here, this is important." You may notice increased "flexibility" in parts of your soul that haven't been used in a while-unexpected emotions may surface. Intuition may seem to spring from places you didn't even know existed. You may be completely and wonderfully lost in your process, oblivious to what is going on around you. You might feel rejuvenated, invigorated and... giddy- yes, giddy. Sometimes I'm just giddy and delighted after I've had the freedom to express myself with paint and paintbrush.
So this is a call to those of you who have already attended one of my painting classes! Get ready to come back for another class and spread the news to a friend- a "soul massage" awaits!
